Green Detox Smoothie
This spinach banana smoothie makes a great breakfast or healthy snack to help you get back on track! Add in some Greek yogurt or a scoop of protein powder for a complete and healthy meal.
So how was everyone’s Labor Day weekend? Ours was pretty low key, just the way I like it! Maybe it’s just me, but long weekends tend to mean more food and drinks. I definitely can’t complain, I mean hellloooo I love food!
But sometimes after a long weekend full of food and drinks, all I really crave is something healthy and green. That’s why I love this spinach banana smoothie, it’s full of good for you ingredients and tastes delicious!
I remember the first time I added spinach to a smoothie, I was kind of freaked out by the color. But after my first sip, I was sold! I can assure you that you can’t taste the spinach in this smoothie at all. To be honest, spinach doesn’t have much of a taste anyways. The frozen banana in this smoothie helps to mask the spinach and adds a creamy texture.
This spinach fruit smoothie also contains pineapple. I love adding pineapple to my green smoothies because it helps to prevent bloating and aids in digestion. We all need a little of that every now and then, right?
This smoothie can be whipped up in less than five minutes, making it an easy option for breakfast or a quick snack. Plus, you’re getting an extra serving of vegetables without even trying. #winning.
Ingredients for This Recipe
I kept this banana pineapple spinach smoothie ultra simple, but let’s quickly go over the ingredients list.
- Banana: Needs to be sliced and then frozen. Don’t add a whole, unsliced frozen banana to the smoothie otherwise your blender may struggle to blend it up.
- Pineapple: Fresh or frozen pineapple will work.
- Almond milk: I prefer using unsweetened almond milk, but any milk will work.
- Spinach: I used fresh spinach.
How to Make a Spinach Banana Smoothie
I don’t think you need me to tell you how to make this easy spinach and banana smoothie! Simply add all the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!
Baking Tips
- You can easily turn this spinach fruit smoothie into a meal by adding in some greek yogurt or a scoop of protein powder for a little more staying power.
- For the thickest smoothie, use all frozen ingredients (banana and pineapple). For a thinner smoothie, use all fresh ingredients.
- I don’t like adding ice to my smoothie because it waters down the flavor, but you can certainly add a handful of ice cubes to yours if desired.

Notes
I agree, I’ve added both kale and spinach in smoothies and they’re so masked by the other flavors that it’s like “why not add some greens to my day?” This smoothie looks and sounds yummy! Happy Labor Day!
My thoughts exactly, Kaylin! Hope you had a great Labor Day as well 🙂
Ooh yum, l’ve never seen pineapple in a green smoothie! This looks amazing and I love the photography 🙂
I agree, Danielle! I definitely need to detox after this weekend! I love that you posted this green smoothie! It’s funny because I also have a smoothie recipe posting on Wednesday for the exact same reasons! 🙂 I’ve always been wanting to try spinach in them but have been a little intimidated. But you definitely made me rethink that! I love the pretty green color and the banana and pineapple in here. Sounds perfect for this week! Pinned!
How funny! Great minds think alike, right? You can’t taste the spinach at all in green smoothies, it’s an easy way to get more veggies.
This sounds like a great way to get back on track. I need one of these every now and again. I really love the pineapple and spinach combination.
I think I’m totally doing this tomorrow. I need to drink only green smoothies for a month to make up for summer!
I’m thinking I need to do the same thing too, Dorothy! Thanks so much for pinning!
Love this, Danielle! I hear ya on wanting something a little lighter after a holiday weekend. I love the idea of adding pineapple!
I really love smoothies, especially green ones! Maybe it is totally just in my head but I really do feel better after I drink something like this for breakfast verses something heavier. I have started freezing my thurmos overnight then making a smoothie and taking it to work in the morning. It is still nice and cold at like 1130 for a midmorning pick me up!
I feel the same exact way, Annie! I love the idea of freezing your thermos, that’s genius! I’m definitely going to try that out so I can take them with me to work too.
We must be on the same wavelength, I have a green smoothie planned for this week too! Your looks great 🙂
Haha sounds like a few of us had the same idea! I love it! Can’t wait to see your green smoothie, Katie. I love getting new ideas for mine.
Green smoothies are the best thing ever! They always make me feel so good and “green” after drinking one! LOL. And wheee! I have all these ingredients right now! These are so happening here. 🙂
