Sannoh recalled that the process of obtaining the country’s very first biometric driver’s license began about nine months ago, as part of numerous efforts in recent years to restructure the entire biometric system and rename the authority. .
He added that the new driver’s license has 9 features including a smart chip, accessible via QR code, security features, all currency features other countries have and it is considered the next generation license.
“The most important of its features is the fact that the license is synchronized with the national identification number of the holder which is registered with the National Vital Statistics Authority, adding more authenticity to the acquisition process” , did he declare.
In his brief statement to the visiting SLRSA team, His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio commended the innovative efforts of the team and praised their leadership in ensuring that the licensing system was upgraded to meet the requirements. international standards.
“It’s development. For the most part in Sierra Leone, when we talk about development, we are only talking about what we can touch. But it is a giant leap towards safety and sanity on our roads.
“We had a broken system, with people who are going to wreak havoc on the road (…) without the required documentation. But I think that with that we will now be able to control it all,” he said. .
