The Minister of Transport and Infrastructures Adil Karaismailoğlu spoke at the inauguration of the Filyos-5 bridge; Karabük, which is an important center of attraction in terms of nature tourism with its unique natural beauties, is an important industrial city which has played a leading role in the development of our country with the industrial breakthrough in the field of iron and steel in the first year of the Republic. Especially in recent years, mining, energy and industrial activities in the region have become increasingly important. the Kazanis are gone. Being located on the Black Sea Coastal Route, which is an important transport axis in the east-west direction of our country, the proximity to the largest port city in the western Black Sea region, Zonguldak, increases the importance of Karabük.

IMPROVED GEOMETRIC STANDARD

Noting that they are aware of the importance of each project that will strengthen Karabük’s transport network, Karaismailoğlu said that they attach great importance to improving the quality of the roads, especially by connecting Karabük with the surrounding provinces. and at the port of Filyos. “In this context, we demolished and rebuilt the existing Filyos-24 Bridge, which allows the passage of the Filyos stream at the 5th kilometer of the Devrek-Zonguldak Junction-Karabuk road,” Karaismailoğlu said and continued as follows:

“Our project, which is standard for hot asphalt mixes, is 587 meters long with a connection road of 773 meters. We have built the Filyos-186 Bridge, which is 13 meters long, 6 meters wide and consists of 5 spans, single beam type with face design. With the newly constructed bridge, we both changed the layout of the existing bridge and increased the geometric standard of the road. One of the most important objectives of the reconstruction of the Filyos-5 bridge was to maximize road safety and driving comfort between Karabük and Zonguldak. We have succeeded. With the Filyos-5 bridge we have already avoided the negative effects of a possible flooding of the Filyos stream. Moreover, just as the Filyos Stream animates the fields it crosses, each new road built, like the rivers, animates employment, production, trade, culture and the artistic life of the places it crosses. The Filyos-5 bridge will also allow production resources from Karabük and Zonguldak to reach domestic and foreign markets more quickly and safely. It will make a great contribution to the economic, social and cultural development of all establishments in the region.
