MURRIETA, CA – The City of Murrieta is about to award a contract for the construction of the new Warm Springs Boardwalk off Clinton Keith Road near Interstate 215, which will provide access to a new Costco warehouse and retail stores across from Vista Murrieta High School.

On Tuesday evening, the Murrieta City Council is set to award GMC Engineering Inc. the construction contract. The Tustin-based company offered the job at $2,646,646.41 — the lowest of six bids the city received, according to city documents. The total project cost is $3,043,643.37, which includes a 15% project contingency.

The Warm Springs Parkway North project is required to access the Vineyard Freeway Center which will contain Costco and other retail tenants. Road construction will include approximately 665 linear feet of street improvements on Warm Springs Parkway, as well as paving improvements on Clinton Keith Road. Warm Springs Parkway will be a 76 foot wide, curb-to-curb, four-lane main road.

Other features included in the roadway construction contract are sidewalks, landscape medians, drainage improvements, signage and striping, street lighting, dry utilities, and water and utility utilities. sewer. Installation of a traffic light at the intersection of Warm Springs Parkway and a commercial driveway is also included in the project, according to city documents.

The new Costco will be the first in town. It is expected to open next year and will also include a full-scale Costco gas station.
