ROCHESTER, Minnesota – Several road construction projects are starting or expanding in Olmsted County.

Valleyhigh Road NW reconstruction will begin between County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 5 and County Road 158. Valleyhigh Rd NW will be closed from 300 feet east of CSAH 5 to CR 158, with a detour that will allow the traffic to access CR 105 from CSAH 5. Valleyhigh Drive NW is expected to be closed to traffic until mid-November. Motorists should expect delays and seek alternate routes.

Monday will also see the start of work on the turning lane on Bamber Valley Rd SW at Mayowood Estates Drive SW and Meadow Crossing Road SW. The works are expected to be completed within three weeks, weather permitting, with signage operations in place throughout the duration of the works.

Construction on North Broadway Avenue in Rochester also extends farther south. On Tuesday, the pedestrian detour to cross Broadway Avenue will change to 10th Street. This shift is to accommodate concrete work which is expected to last 4 days, weather permitting. North Broadway from 6th Street to 13th Street will be completely closed to all traffic on July 26 and the closure is expected to last through August.

Also on July 26, 7th Street in Rochester will be closed from east of Holiday Station access to west of Great Harvest Bread access. The intersection of 7th Street and Broadway Avenue will be completely closed. This traffic shutdown is expected to last 4 weeks, weather permitting.

And drivers on Civic Center Drive/Highway 15 using Highway 52 northbound on the ramp to Rochester will experience a detour between 5 a.m. and later in the afternoon Tuesday as crews repair the noise barrier on the strap. This work is to repair damage caused by an accident and the right lane of Highway 52 northbound will also be closed during this time, from the Civic Center ramp to the 19th Street exit.
