On Monday, the city’s Standing Committee on Development and Heritage unanimously approved a request from Duo Fratres Inc. for a redevelopment grant at 1370 Argyle Rd., As part of the City’s Redevelopment Community Improvement Plan. brownfields in the municipality.

The old factory is located next to Market Square at Ottawa Street and Walker Road. A huge fire in September 2018 destroyed much of the building, which was first constructed in 1944.

Duo Fratres Inc. is a business owned by Pierre and Yves Poirier – who also own the Place du Marché building.

The owners plan to transform the site into a building with 81 apartments. But to do so requires navigating the heritage status of the surviving building facade and cleaning up decades of industrial contamination on the property.
