BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 19. Chairman of the Board of the National Automobile Roads Agency of Azerbaijan Saleh Mammadov visited the districts of Kalbajar, Lachin, Gubadli, Zangilan and Jabrayil liberated from Armenian occupation [in the 2020 Second

According to the agency, the purpose of the visit was to inspect the implementation of road infrastructure projects in the economic regions of Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur in accordance with the instructions issued by President Ilham Aliyev on April 12. in a meeting, devoted to the results of activities in the first quarter of this year, in which the President spoke in detail about the projects mentioned.
During the visit, Mammadov inspected the construction of the Toghanali-Kalbajar-Istisu highway and the tunnel through the Murovdagh mountain range, which will become one of the longest automobile tunnels in the world.
Currently, the construction of subgrade and drainage systems on the Toghanali-Kalbajar-Istisu highway is ongoing. In the tunnel, through Murovdagh, drilling work continues, which has been completed over a length of more than one kilometer in each direction.
Then the head of the state agency saw the progress of earthworks on the Kalbajar-Lachin highway with a length of 72.3 kilometers.
Mammadov also inquired about the progress of the construction of a new highway bypassing the city of Lachin, which will be put into service this year. Currently, along with the design of the road, the construction of the platform and a car bridge is underway.
Another important road infrastructure project in Lachin district is the Khudafarin-Gubadli-Lachin highway. In the direction of the Gubadli-Lachin road, the construction of a 45-kilometer road section is in progress.
The head of the agency was informed that the construction of the Horadiz-Jabrayil-Zangilan-Aghband road (Zangazur corridor), which starts from the Khudafarin-Gubadli-Lachin highway, is progressing rapidly. Construction of roadbed, drainage, tunnels and bridges on the road continues at a high level according to schedule.
During the acquaintance with road construction, Mammadov gave recommendations and instructions for the timely and high-quality completion of road infrastructure projects, the agency added.
